A take-home kit (S$400) uses custom trays and gel you wear for a set time each day over about two weeks — a gradual change you control. In-clinic (chairside) whitening (S$900) is done in one appointment with a stronger gel applied under supervision, with the gums protected. Gel refills for the take-home trays are S$200 for four tubes, so topping up later is inexpensive.
What affects the result
Whitening lightens the shade of natural teeth. How much it lifts depends on the cause of the discolouration — surface stains from coffee, tea or smoking behave differently from discolouration within the tooth. Whitening does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings, so those may need replacing to match. The dentist assesses whether whitening is suitable for you before treatment.
What's not included
The consultation is billed separately, and whitening is elective, so it isn't covered by CHAS or MediSave.
