How Long Do Veneers Last? Care and Lifespan

Discover what affects veneer longevity and learn simple care tips to keep your new smile looking great for years to come.

Porcelain veneers commonly last around 10 to 15 years, and composite veneers around 5 to 7, before they need replacing. How long yours last depends on the material, your bite, and your habits.

To help them last:

  • Brush and floss as you normally would — veneers don't decay, but the natural tooth underneath still can, so routine check-ups matter.
  • Avoid biting hard objects like ice, pens, or fingernails, which can chip a veneer.
  • If you grind your teeth at night, a nightguard protects them.
  • With composite veneers, limiting staining foods and drinks helps keep the colour even.

When a veneer eventually wears or chips, it can usually be repaired or replaced.
